A Day Course

Course Outline

The creative classroom is a practical fun filled day looking at ways to bring Music into the life of the classroom and school. It is split into 3 sessions:

Session 1 - Movement and the learning environment

In this session you will be shown how to use movement alongside music in the classroom to energise, relax, motivate and much more. You will also see how to link the content of the learning to simple songs.

Session 2 - Picture the music

This session will demonstrate how to use pictures and music to inspire creative thinking. You will see how to organise the ideas generated and use them for creative writing, story telling, art, drama and music composition. Through examples of students own work and by experiencing it yourself you will gain an understanding of this powerful teaching method.

Session 3 - Composition to enhance learning

In this final session you will be shown how to create a performance using original composition. You will be shown, and take part in, exercises to develop the fundamentals of music

Requirements:

For session 3 you will need to have a collection of instruments usually found in the primary classroom - shakers, woodblocks, drums, xylophones, glockenspeils etc.
