This version of the course focuses more on the use of the software resource - Picture the Music Create. It takes you through all the functions and applications. Book this course if you feel that the staff need a bit of help using technology in the classroom. For Session 1 and 2 there will need to be at least 1 laptop/PC between 2 people with speakers or headphones - often the computer suite is best for this.

Session 1 - Picture the Music Create - The Resource

In this session you will learn about the 3 key skills involved in Picture the Music Create. You will discover how to use thought maps to organise ideas.

You will then be taken through the software and shown how to design your own creative multi sensory lessons. You will learn about all the features in this powerful learning tool including using multiple pictures and sounds, importing your own media files, using blank map templates and more.

You will also be shown how to create a more dynamic learning environment using sounds and movement - an essential part of the methodology.

Session 2 - Picture the Music Create - Applications

This session shows Picture the Music Create in action. You will see examples from all over the UK . You will discover the many different outcomes possible using this powerful methodology. You will see how to use special thought map templates linked to narrative and other areas of creative writing. You will have a chance to design your own lessons using the software based on the ideas you see.

Session 3 - Picture the Music Create -Creations

This is a highly practical session where you will learn how to create a composition project using Picture the Music Create.

Philip will show you methods to develop composition skills that are easy to use in the classroom for all practitioners - not just musical specialists. You will look at Timbre, Dynamics, Rhythm and Structure.You will then have a go at composing your own piece of music (in groups) linked to a special Picture the Music Create lesson that Philip will set up. It is great fun and extremely popular with everyone.
